Hi, I'm Tom Kroon. I'm a front-end web developer who's worked in the web industry for 4 years & currently living in Seattle, WA.
Work
Epic Floors
Role: Web Design, Web Development
This was the first contractor website that I was asked to design and build. The goal was to create an aesthetic that matched the company’s logo, and make it as easy as possible for users to find pertinent information about the business.
North Sound Service
Role: Web Design, Web Development
I was asked by a local landscaping company to redesign their website, and incorporate imagery from their print flyers and other marketing materials. The design is minimal, focusing on images of their past work.
The website is still under development, but a preview is available to view online.
Sunshine's All Naturals
Role: Web Design, Web Development
I was approached by small, sustainable meal catering/delivery service to redesign their entire online website and ordering system. The website was designed to highlight their various food products and streamline the shopping experience with a custom, user-friendly shopping cart system.
The site I designed is no longer available online because the maintenance on a custom shopping cart was too much for a small business to manage. C’est la vie.
Lauren's Gemstone Jewelry
Role: Web Design, Web Development
A local jewelry maker approached me looking to create an online shop for her business. I designed the website from scratch, using PHP and MySQL to create a simple CMS for the owner to add/update/delete products.
To simplify the shopping experience, I utilized PayPal for the shopping cart and payment system.
Peak Missoula
Role: Web Development, Information Architecture Consulting
I was asked to restructure the content on the Peak Missoula website, giving all three of their locations equal representation on one website.
After performing a content audit on the current website, I proposed an updated information architecture that was approved by their management. This is still an ongoing project, and the proposed information architecture will be implemented sometime in the near future.
Doctors Express NW
Role: Social Media Managment, PPC Campaign Management
I managed the Facebook advertising campaigns for Doctors Express Kent, Queen Anne and Everett that lasted for several months and was successful at growing their number of Facebook fans and driving clients to their different walk-in clinics.
Museum of Modern Art
Role: Web Design, Web Development
A local art museum asked me to create an artwork submission form for their annual art auction.
OblongPixel
Role: Content Production
I’ve written several blog posts for my company, OblongPixel. All of my posts are geared towards web developers working on small business websites, but I try to make them accessible enough so all types of website owners will get some use out of reading them.

About
I’m a creative, passionate, detail-obsessed front-end web developer looking to make the web a more user-friendly place one website at a time. I love the direction the web is going with new standards & technologies like HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and RESTful API’s. With all these new toys to play with, I’ve made it my obsession to figure out how I can make it easier for people to explore, create and share on the web.
When I’m not obsessing about web culture or working on a project, I’m usually playing board games, home brewing or having a beer with friends and talking about the latest comic book movies. I’ve lived in Seattle, WA my entire life, graduated from the University of Washington and worked for a time at the SeattlePI.com. I would have moved by now, but Seattle is such an awesome town that I haven’t come up with a good enough reason to go anywhere else!
I'm a front-end web developer at heart, but I've also worked as a SEO consultant, social media manager, content auditor and PPC campaign manager in the past.
I'm good at HTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, UX design and SEO
I'm learning about graphic design, JSON, mobile web design and SEM
